GENERAL

What is a meal kit?
A meal kit contains everything needed to create a delicious healthy meal quickly and easily. Depending upon the recipe, it contains things like a protein, chopped veggies, spices, pre-made sauce, etc.

How much does it cost?
The meal cost varies based on your selection and serving size but it averages $5 per serving. For example, if you order a meal that serves 6 people for $27.99 each, your cost will be just $4.66 per serving, which is less than a fast food meal. Per meal, our half size meals kits range in price from $16.99 to $19.99 and large meal kits are $22.99 to $29.99, depending upon the recipe.

Do you offer side items and desserts?
Yes, we do! We have different sides and dessert items each month that are carefully created and chosen to complement our main entrée items. They are available to order on the website, when you come to assemble your entrées or when you pick-up your order.

How do I save time with Healthy Habits Kitchen?
We do all the work for you—including selecting the recipes, shopping, and prep work. You just order and pick-up your meals!

When you’re ready to eat, simply thaw the meal and follow the simple label instructions. Our meals require only basic preparation, such as baking, simmering, sautéing or grilling—most meals are ready in 30 minutes or less. Some meals may require more time depending on the ingredients and/or cooking time.

If you want to save even more time, Healthy Habits Kitchen can assemble your meals for a modest additional charge.

How do I save money with Healthy Habits Kitchen?
We buy restaurant-quality ingredients at wholesale prices and pass the savings on to you. And, since we’re preparing for many customers at once, you can try new recipes and enjoy a more diverse menu—all without investing in spices, herbs, cooking wines, extracts and other expensive ingredients.

What makes Healthy Habits Kitchen meals healthier than fast food or frozen meals?
We offer superior ingredients, including restaurant-quality meats, poultry and seafood—a grade above what's available in the grocery stores! We only use natural seasonings, juices, extracts and herbs in all of our recipes. We strive to offer fresh fruits and vegetables whenever possible! We also use local produce, whenever and wherever possible. All meals are 400 calories or less, 30% fat or less, and 800mg of sodium or less. And, of course, our entrée choices are often more nutritionally balanced than fast-food or processed meals.

What are your hours?
We are open Monday to Friday 12 – 2 and 4 – 6:30. We are often in the kitchen from 2 -4 but we recommend you call to ensure we are there before you drop in. We are also happy to stick around later of come in earlier that our standard hours – all you need to do is make an appointment and we will be there for your pick-up.

MENUS

What are the menus like?
We like to create seasonal menus with wide appeal however, we also like trying new and creative recipes, often drawing on inspiration from other countries. We offer 12 different choices every month that include a variety of poultry, meat, seafood, vegetarian dishes, side dishes and desserts. Our more popular entrées are offered on a recurring basis. What if I don't like or want certain ingredients in my meals?
Some people don’t like onions, while others can’t get enough. We all have different tastes. Not to worry! Except for the primary ingredients such as meat, poultry or fish, you may alter entrées as you wish. If you don't like cheese, leave it out. It’s all up to you! Just remember, the nutritional facts are based on the meal prepared according to the exact directions.

Do you offer gluten-free meals?
Some of our meal kits are gluten-free however, because many of our meals do include gluten there is the possibility of cross-contamination. If you have Celiac disease and are extremely sensitive to gluten then it is not recommended. Consult your doctor or dietician if you are unsure.

Why don’t you offer more vegetarian meals?
We love our vegetarian customers however; at this point in time we simply do not have enough demand to warrant adding additional vegetarian meals. We do offer 2 vegetarian options a month. We are constantly adding and changing our menu to meet the needs and wants of our customers so email us at info@healthyhabitskitchen.com if you would like to see more vegetarian meals on the menu.

All of our ingredients are sourced locally and we use local ingredients, whenever and wherever possible.

Is this diet food?
No, we are not a diet center however; some people have lost weight eating our food on a consistent basis. Our menu is regularly reviewed by a nutritionist who ensures that the food is nutritionally balanced. All menu items list ingredients and have full nutritionals on the website and kit so you know exactly what you are eating to fit into any diet you my select.

If I don't want to order meals in advance, can I stop by and pick up a meal that is already assembled for me?
Yes, Healthy Habits Kitchen keeps an inventory of preassembled, refrigerated meals that you can cook tonight, or frozen meals you can defrost and cook another night. Depending on the day you can have a choice of 70% - 100% of what is on the menu. We call it grab and go.

What is meal assembly?
Meal assembly enables individuals to plan in advance while saving time and money! On your scheduled session date and time, you simply come to Healthy Habits Kitchen where all the ingredients are ready and waiting for you. You go from station to station, assembling meals according to the recipes easy-to-follow instructions. Then you wrap and label your meals and take them home. It's a quick, simple and fun way to prepare your meals weeks in advance and it saves you from having to spend hours on grocery shopping and meal planning.

Can I assemble meals alone or do I have to do it with a group?
No, you can come by yourself. We have a lot of customers that come with a group, but we also have quite a few that come alone. Just sign up for a session that is convenient for you.

Can I bring someone with me to assemble meals?
You are more than welcome to bring someone to help. Please let us know if you will be bringing a guest when you sign up.

How much notice does Healthy Habits Kitchen need for assembly?
For assembly sessions we would like to know at least 48 hours in advance but we usually have enough food to accommodate that last minute order. If it's less than 48 hours give us a call to see if there is enough food for your order.

What do I need to bring to the session?
Healthy Habits Kitchen packages all completed entrées in plastic freezer bags. All you’ll need to bring is a cooler or an insulated bag to carry home your dinners.

PRIVATE PARTIES

Can I reserve a session for a private party at Healthy Habits Kitchen?
Yes, you can host a private meal assembly party using our kitchen and lounge area—it's a great place to have a birthday party, bridal shower, book club meetings, or a well-deserved girls' night out! Our space will be yours for the night. We will serve you dinner and we do the clean-up after. It is also BYOB. To reserve the kitchen for a private party you can just call us at 781.235.6325 or e-mail us at info@healthyhabitskitchen.com and we will help you arrange your party—all you have to do is invite people!

What times do you offer private parties at Healthy Habits Kitchen?
Any time you want. We have held parties at 10 a.m. as well as 7 p.m. and anywhere in between. The lounge area is also yours as long as you wish.

Is there a minimum number of meals I need to order when I am part of a private party?
Yes, the minimum is 4 meals. They can be 4 half meals, 4 full meals or a combination. All of the details will be in your registration e-mail.

What is the general agenda of a private party?
The first 15 minutes or so you gather and have appetizers and drinks. Then we have you tie your hair back, put on your apron, wash your hands and get ready to prepare your meals and have fun. After a brief orientation you assemble your meals at each meal station according to your order. Then you enjoy a meal and dessert we prepare for you in the lounge area. You can spend the rest of the night enjoying good food, friends and having fun. The best part is you leave with meals you prepare at home the rest of the week
