Healthy Habits Kitchen definition of healthy food:

  • We strive to deliver balanced meals. We recommend side dishes to complement the nutritional value of the main dish – keeping carbohydrates, fat, and protein content in balance.
  • Ingredients used are in their whole and natural state. We use limited preservatives, artificial flavors, colors, or dyes.
  • All our meats and poultry are free of growth hormones and antibiotics.
  • All of our ingredients are fresh and prepared daily for your meals.
  • All vegetables and fruit are purchased from local vendors.
  • Each meal contains less than 400 calories per serving, is less than 30% fat and has less than 800 mg of sodium.
  • In addition to the general guidelines above, each meal may have one of the following indicators to help you identify factors that are important to you:

    • Low fat – 3 grams or less per 100 calories
    • High fiber – 3 grams or more per serving
